The Yin-Yang balance.
Polar opposites. Each diametrically opposed, but unable to live without one another. Sounds like my parents! Yang-All things masculine, hard, hot, aggressive, illuminating. Yin-All things feminine, dark, cold, soft, receptive, passive. (Dark? Cold? Passive? Hmmmm....I think a man wrote this.) Yin is often symbolized by water and air, while Yang is symbolized by fire and earth. So
How does this play into Chinese Astrology? Simple, in Chinese Philosophy there is no moral superiority given to one side (or the other) of the dicotomy. In Chinese Philosophy the Yin and Yang must be in balance with one another. Excessive Yin or Yang is often viewed as unbalanced and therefore undesirable. also...They are much like the Elements, acting as modifiers to the 12 Animals of the Chinese Zodiac.
